Posting in the Massachussetts forum would be much more helpful to you.

Hi:
Where in MA will you be relocating to?
What is your budget to buy or rent an apartment?
What exactly are you looking for in the community that you want to move to?

I would not recommend on Springfield, as it has too many run-down areas, high crime, high property taxes and poor schools. For example, see this past thread: //www.city-data.com/forum/massa...-question.html

You can find better areas for families further out in the country, for example, South Hadley, Northampton, Easthampton, Southwick etc. However, if you need to work, you should concentrate on a job location first.

Another question to answer is whether you need public transportation, or whether you own a car. Many of the better areas are car-dependent.

Where will you be working and what is your housing budget? With that information forum members can offer more useful suggestions.

Sorry for posting in the wrong place.

I don't have a specific budget currently in rent for a 1 bedroom in nyc i pay 1500
Anything lower would be amazing. I will need public transportation seeing as we won't
Have a car for a while but it is definitely more important to my family and I that the neighborhood
Is safe and has good schools ..also ideally the area would have a nursing home seeing as i am a nurses aide
Also thanks for the feedback

Are you relocating just to lower costs? What about your employment? You can easily find apartments lower then that in springfield. Heck you can make house payments lower then that in Springfield.

I am relocating because of some personal issues. I plan on going to ma this summer to look at nursing homes but i first need to find a area to look for apts and nursing homes as i mentioned i wouldn't mind a little travel for work just not a crazy distance i just want to be sure whichever neighborhood is considered safe and a good place to rasie a family

Well it's just for that price range for renting you have quite a range to choose from. Obviously the school system is going to be a big factor as the public once can have a mixed reputation but private of course also has a cost and there is a growing charter system.
