I am planning a move from Colorado to Massachusetts and am thinking Westford as a town (mainly rent budget + best schools combination) to move into. From what I read, the schools are pretty good (my kid will be in 3rd grade). I will be comminuting few times a week between Burlington, Cambridge and Framingham and maybe once a week to Boston Airport.
While I am convinced the schools in Westford are good, I am not sure how the commute situation will be. Google maps shows around 30-35 miles commute to each of the destinations with time estimate of 30-40 mins. but would love to hear if any of you had any personal experiences with commute from Westford to Boston airport and other locations listed above.
I'm in Westford. Burlington won't be too bad, especially if you can leave on the early side, when I used rt 3, I found that if I was on rt 3 (at the rt 40 exit in Westford) by 6:45am, Rt 3 was a speed limit ride all the way down. Framingham will be a pain, probably an hour or more, and Cambridge worst of all. Hour and a half or so, blechhhh. That's normal traffic, throw in an accident or weather and ugh.
Logan at rush hour will be no fun. If you are going there to catch a plane, see if you can get a flight out of Manchester, NH instead. The driving distance is about the same as Logan from Westford, but there won't be traffic, parking is much cheaper and it's right outside the single terminal.

Thank you, this helps, especially the Manchester airport suggestion.

Can confirm KKay's input ... if north of Billerica on rt. 3, always check Manchester flights. When living in Lowell, I would fly 2-3 times a month and found the commute to Manchester airport to be both painless and reliable. So much so, I got complacent and would only leave a 20 minute buffer for my flights ... never missed a plane. The parking is also significantly cheaper (not that my clients care).

+1 this! My wife too commutes to Bedford/Billerica/Burlington on work and uses the back roads and she says there is never traffic backup anytime.
