They aren't the future MD who needs the BU area. Though Steph will need a postdoc, and staying local WOULD solve the "2-body problem".

Some of these areas are better than others to run in. From a safety (crime) perspective, they should be fine. The only drawback is par for the course with running in any city-frequent stops due to stop lights, running through occasional crowds of people, and crazy divers (people don't know how to drive in Cambridge and Somerville in my experience). That said, the Esplanade runs along the Charles and offers miles of running/walking trails along both the Boston and Cambridge side. Many runners I know from Boston and Cambridge run here. Memorial Drive is also closed on Sunday mornings in the Spring and Summer.
Misinformation fixed: Kenmore Square is across the river from the MIT area in Cambridge, and not near Somerville. Perhaps the poster intended to write Kendall?
"Mem Drive" is closed FROM late morning - into the early evening - on Sundays. Now that the rollerblading craze has died out this is taken advantage of surprisingly little.

Each of the local universities is fairly generous in terms of allowing use of their track facilities by "the public." I'd check in advance before just showing up at one, though, as many clubs call dibs on any given day.

Thanks goy!! Being the better half an MIT student, and being a student at a Tufts affiliated school gives Mandy dibs on those. Zach can probably get into Harvard's track easily.
