My heat came on this morning. I feel like I should go outside and rake leaves or something.

It would be nice to have a thermostat that can switch between COOL and HEAT automatically since we sometimes get these periods of time when temps fluctuate between 45 and 85.
I have a Nest. You can set it to heat or cool based on a high and low temperature in the house.

If I hadn't just driven my boiler to the scrap yard I might have the heat on! Time to throw on a sweatshirt or buy a camo snuggie.

Luckily a couple of our ceramic heaters are still within easy access. We've only been using them to heat the bathrooms at night. Otherwise I've piled the quilts back on the beds and we haven't put away all our winter clothing yet.
Do you work at home? I can deal with it cold in the house for a few hours in the evening and at night when I sleep. All day at home on the second day of sub 60 in the house? No I need heat and I don't care that it's June.

I have an oil fired boiler so the system is never shutdown since it heats the water tank too. Space heaters count as having the heat on.

I'm resisting. No heat but will use the oven tonight. It's chilly but doesn't make sense to use the heat now and AC next week. I also resisted turning on the AC just before this cool wave. So the house was plenty warm to start and is slightly above 60 now. Tomorrow will start the warmup.

My heat came on yesterday but I turned the thermostat down lower and bundled up in the down comforter. It was all packed up for the summer. Thank goodness I had been too lazy to really put it away. Is it time to put the storm windows on???

The Nest has 4 settings: Heat, Cool, Off and Heat/Cool. You have to manually pick heat/cool if you expect it to operate the way I described. Most people just switch between Heat and Cool as needed. Also, any schedules you made for heating or cooling would need to be reconfigured for heat/cool (or you could just pick setpoints and not bother with scheduling).
