No, it's more like 99.9% of the members are men, the female profiles are mostly fakes using other people's e-mails without their knowledge, guys pretending to be women to scam guys out of money.

These numbers don't make sense and are probably fake. You can see this by dividing the numbers given by the town population. For example:

9. Webster 6053 / 16767 = 36%

For residents over 15, 38.1% are now married. As the population is not all over 15, this means that there are more people on AM in Webster than there are married people in Webster. Other towns have similar (although not as ridiculous) numbers.

It's not clear if the profiles are fake or just this list. Where did you get this information?

Wow, my town didn't even make the list, even though a bunch of surrounding towns did...(Rockland, Weymouth, Abington, Hingham, Scituate) I wonder how accurate the data is.

I've never even heard of Ashley Madison, but this data makes no sense if nearly all the members are men. Sudbury only has about 6,000 men age 18+, so how can we have almost 1,000 members? I definitely know more than a few people on the list if this is the case. Did someone make the list of names public? Sorry, I've been living under a rock.

Ashley Madison is sort of like an online dating site...for people who want to have an affair.

Some hacker group got a hold of the names of subscribers, and told Ashley Madison to shut down in an attempt to stop promoting such behavior. They didn't...so the list got out.
