Hi,
Does anyone know of a reliable, reasonable (and of course honest) house cleaning service in the MetroWest/Framingham area that they would recommend? Any that work on weekends?

Thank you!

Realtors are good for these types of recommendations. Especially the one you worked with to buy your home.

Thanks, Parsec. I liked my buying agent but found each of her referrals to be problematic.

I'm not in MetroWest, but used Thumbtack.com to find our cleaner, who we love. You input the service you need and where you need it. For cleaners, you specify how often you want the cleaning done, how large your house is, if you want to use your own products, etc. and then you're contacted by cleaners who are interested and their cost. I think I got maybe 5 - 10 responses, interviewed 2 in person and then we hired our current cleaner.

We ended up using thumbtack for a couple of other home projects (exterior painting, carpentry) and it's worked out really well each time.

Newfie: What is the going rate for a house cleaner based on the 5-10 responses that you got? I'm paying about $20/hr, but she doesn't do a good job that's why I can't recommend her. It only takes her 5 hours to clean my house even though I'm paying by the hour and would gladly pay more for her to do a thorough job. My old cleaner took 4 hours to clean my old house which was half the size, but she did a very good job (she only takes weekly clients now, so I had to drop her).

We pay about $30/hour. Our house takes 4 - 5 hours (3,100 square feet) and we pay $135 per cleaning. She uses her own products and we have her come every 2 weeks. The ranges I received were $110 - $150, so she was right in the middle. She owns her own company, is licensed/insured, lives close by, has great reviews and does a great job.

My neighbor has a 2,100 square foot house and her cleaner spends about 3 hours cleaning (and doesn't use her own products). Her cleaner is $80/visit.

NewfieMama - thanks for the tip on Thumbtack. I received several bids and have someone coming this weekend.
