Moving to Melrose with family (buy, disposal, live)

Moving to Melrose with 2 children . What should we know, look out for, etc. where can we get I go on cable /internet options, trash pick up, etc.

Melrose has Comcast (Xfinity) and Verizon FIOS for Internet. I would go with FIOS, if I were you.

Garbage pickup is a city service, the day of the week will depend on the street you live. You will receive a quarterly bill which will combine your water/sewer/and trash pickup all in one. Every week has recycling as well as regular trash, you will either need bins, or a separate garbage can labeled as recycling. Every few weeks (depending on season) is leaf pickup as well. They hold events at the City yard every few months for disposal of certain substances, like paint.

Melrose is a good City of children. It's geared towards young families.

Yes, there is great sledding at the Mount Hood Golf Club in Melrose so buy some boots and snow shoes (and a sled - if there is as much snow as last year you can spend a lot of quality time sledding!!

If you are a member of Facebook, you should join the Melrose Ma Community Group because there is a ton of helpful information about the town that members ask.

Also, if your children are young, you should look at the Melrose Birth To Five website (Melrose Birth to Five - City of Melrose Massachusetts) which also gives a lot of helpful information.
