Ah. I was operating under the false impression that you liked where you live.

I do in some ways, but not in others. If you see the post I just made in the snow thread you'll know what I'm talking about. If I had a different mindset (pay people to do everything instead of being so cheap) and a job in Waltham/Burlington I would love living here. Ask me again next month. I'm just drained right now after working 40+ hours so far this week. C-D is my only outlet from reality

Two are in Somerville, MA.

Decades ago Somerville was on the decline. One could pick up a home (relatively) cheap. No one wanted to live in declining Somerville. Except some college students.

With good civic management. Somerville is a destination. And an expensive one at that.

... let's not discount the impact of a booming bio/pharma industry and redline access.

That's a big part of it, however it seems like more residents here are tech workers, not biotech workers. Somerville still retains some of it's anti-corporate counterculture vibe and somehow working in software is ok but big pharma is evil. Also ove rthe last 5 years the areas not easily serviced by the T are changing rapidly, though some of that is in anticipation of the new T.

I love S&S.

The S&S Deli and Restaurant located in Inman Square, Cambridge MA.

To be able to buy in Somerville/Cambridge, heh. Oh, one can dream, :/

It's a fuzzy line. I know a lot of folks working in Davis square who are not directly working in Biotech, but are either benefiting from or utilizing the industries pool of capital (both financial and talent). It seems most EEs, MEs, development people, creatives, etc. have dabbled in biotech/med/lifescience work.

Lots of people I know have, they all hated it and a far happier in tech (the ones that went there, which are many).

For the ones in pharm, for the most part, they seemed to feel like they were losing their souls. Never heard anything good about that field.
