You cannot outsmart Route Nine.
My father commuted from Framingham to Chestnut Hill for 20+ years on Route 9. One of the happiest days of his life was when he sold that house and moved to Newton Center.

Here is my suggestion for you, assuming you're around Speen Street.

Get to 27 by 9 or 30.

Turn onto Pine, right by the DQ. At the end, turn left then quickly turn right on Winter.

Turn right on Radcliffe. Follow it until it hits Wellesley Ave and turn left. Then turn right on Glen.

Take Glen to Ridgeway. Turn left in Ridgeway, then right on Intervale. Take Intervale down to Concord/Park and turn right.

Left on Hagar. Turns into Grove. Grove takes you to Riverside.

Worth a try. I didn't just do it off a map - I've driven it myself many times.

Although Google owns Waze, they do things differently. Waze will have you go up little side streets if it will save you a few seconds and sometimes it may seem crazy. I drive in my job so many times I'm in a completely unfamiliar place so I tend to blindly follow Waze.
