If your husband is driving and not taking the train, and then my personal preference would be to live in Sudbury as it's an easier commute via car.
Agreed. Also coming from Marlborough the OP might find Sudbury to be more in her comfort zone due to proximity to her old stomping grounds. It's also closer in density to Northbridge, whereas Hopkinton feels way more rural and disconnected from Boston.

Really? I have some fam in Northbridge and it still feels like Iowa to me (yes, I'm denial that I live in Sterling). Hoptkington feels like a slightly more rural extension of Southborough, but still leans more posh than podunk. I prefer the housing stock of Sudbury and it certainly more suburban, but to paint Hopkington as far more rural seems to be a stretch ... they're both affluent commuter towns.

Northbridge may not have much going on in town and it's far from everything, but it doesn't have large lots like Sudbury and Hopkinton do. Their homes are typically in a neighborhood setting. Sudbury also has neighborhoods, but the street frontage is probably 2x bigger so the houses are more spread out. Hopkinton might be similar to Sudbury, but it does tend to have a lot of larger 2+ acre lots. Hopkinton also has a lot more undeveloped land, whereas Sudbury is probably 99% built out. Maybe I don't know Hopkinton as well as I know Sudbury so when I drive through town it feels like I'm lost in backwoods Georgia.
