The question was about a company that "makes quality sofas" not just sells them. I think labor costs are just too high in Massachusetts for anyone to run a factory doing that, though there are probably some individual craftsmen who'd build stuff to order (and charge accordingly). A few years back on tax free weekend in August, my wife bought a dining room set made by Pompanoosuc Mills; but I just checked and I see it's a Vermont company. Now please don't tell me that their stuff is actually made in South Carolina or somewhere.

I can't imagine what a sofa made in MA would cost. The last one I bought cost nearly $4000 (Ralph Lauren) and I'm pretty sure it was made in China. Same with my $9,000 dining set. Everything's made in China now, but that doesn't mean it's all junk. You just need to pay attention to what you're buying.

Note: I actually have no idea where my furniture is made. I'm just assuming it's China!

I found this -- a fair amount of couches are available that are made in the USA. I don't know if there are any made specifically in MA -- if they are, I'd assume they're out in Western Mass.

And, I know that both Room and Board and Circle Furniture tout that most of their stuff is made in the US. Circle Furniture specifically states that they try to have furniture as local as possible.

I have a chair made by Flexsteel, very good quality. I bought it at Jordan's Furniture in Natick.

Jordans if looking for mid-level, Circle Furniture for higher-end.
