For between that and improvements in the works for Quincy Center (if that ever comes about), I think Quincy still has the most room for growth.
Have you ever taken the Red Line during rush hour?

Yes, from both ends.

They already have in some areas.

Quincy prices will continue to rise as they are everywhere else in the state. Why on earth would it be on par with Cambridge at this point? Not sure how or why you would compare quincy to Cambridge or even somerville. Quincy doesnt have the colleges or businesses that cambridge has nor does it have the restaurants. Its an entirely different place that would draw very different types of people.

The only reason quincy would be more attractive than cambridge is cheaper prices.

Jobs in Cambridge pay a lot more than jobs in Quincy. Commute to high paying jobs in Boston is a lot easier from Cambridge than it is from Quincy. I totally understand the price discrepancy.

Right so do i. Im just confused as to why cambridge is being compared to quincy in the first place. Cambridge is probably one of the most desired zip codes in the state if not the country. Quincy is a place people move to when they cant afford to be that close to Boston. It s what it is and its making quincy a better place it seems but it shouldn't be difficult to understand why its not as pricey as cambridge

And better housing, quieter, more elbow room, lower crime, better schools, the beach, pretty coastal scenery. Most people only go to restaurants so often. Unless you live RIGHT IN Harvard or Central Square, Quincy seems a better choice for most commuters. You're right about Harvard and MIT though, wasn't thinking of that. But really, if you use public transit it's probably no easier getting to those places from much of Somerville.

"cant afford to be that close to Boston"? Quincy borders Boston (while not downtown), just as Cambridge does. Part of my point was that Cambridge (and Somerville) are over-valued and Quincy is under-valued. Even compared to Dorchester, Quincy is often a better commute by the T.

Quincy seems ok if youre in your 20s or 30s but i dont see it being appealing to families unless its all they can afford. The schools arent great, there's drug issues, no museums and it's no bargain at this point. The OP was asking about places he could buy now that would be best for real estate appreciation. Quincy may have been good for that in 09 but i think that ship has sailed. Prices there have gone up.

How is quincy a better commute to boston than Dorchester by T? I used to take the T from north quincy to boston and i always remember the ride from jfk to n.quincy seeming like an eternity.
