This, EXACTLY. I wouldn't have considered it so seriously otherwise.

We would be moving from a neighborhood in Boston where we have been stuck with the expense of private school, and likely would be through high school for both children. It's just me, though ex hub is involved. The decrease in rent and elimination of tuition would allow for much more financial freedom (something we have struggled with for a long time).

Not to mention, the move would provide my kids with a yard to play in, other kids in the neighborhood, and we would be living closer to several cousins their age, whom they haven't been able to see very often.

Ugh, this is such a hard decision. I appreciate everyone's input.

You can always make more of an effort to see cousins, but your kids will be sitting at before and after school care while you sit in traffic for 2-3 hours a day. Even if the apt was free I don't think I'd do it. You can find good deals in the other towns mentioned if you try. But best of luck either way.
