One day, when this is over, sooner than we think hopefully. It will never taste so good!

I know it's not quite the same, but many of the steakhouses in Boston remain open via takeout/delivery. I know both the Butcher Shop and Boston Chops are open for takeout/delivery, and I think I saw that the chain places like Capital Grille and Ruth's Chris are also doing takeout/delivery.

Wine's also an easy pickup, of course. It's not like the restaurants have wines exclusive to them, and if anything it's a 5th the cost from a good wine shop.

Yeah...but it's not the same as a nice quiet evening out alone with the wife at some of our favorite restaurants.

But I have been making good use of my grill these last few weeks.

I’ve been craving Abe and Louis or capital grille. And sushi.

hah, I apprenticed as a baker there in 1969 to Maurice Leduc, I was 17.
After 10 yrs I opened my own place in Brookline.
Harvard square was a trip back then.
Maurice was right out of Paris, the real deal.
I watch the imbecile food shows on TV today, what a joke.

My dad used to take me to Howard Johnson's in Fresh Pond when I was very young; I remember loving the spaghetti. When I was a bit older, he'd take me to the Wursthaus in Harvard Square, since he liked good German food on occasion. We'd also go to Jimmy's Harborside Restaurant (or was it called Jimmy's Aquarium?) in Boston with my mother; since my dad loved seafood.

I liked the Hilltop Steakhouse very much.

But probably my all-time favorite restaurant was another childhood favorite - the Kon-Tiki Ports in Prudential Center in the 1960's; I loved the food and the fake Polynesian decor (and the tiki figures). Dang, I still miss it.

I used to love Marché food cafeteria in the Prudential. First time I had sushi. Remember stamping your passport at all the various stations?

I have fond memories of the European in the north end.

Marche was ahead of it's time of the food hall explosion in the US.

The first time I had sushi was somewhere in the South End. I have no idea where though. We had free time (or skipped out?) on a high school field trip to Boston. I forget the circumstances, but we had time to get crappy fake IDs on Tremont Street, eat sushi and smoke clove cigarettes. Imagine kids being to be able to do that now?

The Hilltop on Route 1 in Saugus.
Bambino's on Highland Ave in Malden.
Highland Café on Highland Ave in Malden.
Mario's Restaurant on Hyde Park Ave in Hyde Park.

The Grand Canal on Canal St in Boston. (More of a bar, but good food).

My parents mention Augustine's on Route 1 in Saugus too. (I was only little when it closed so I don't have memories of it).

Edit: I mentioned Hilltop and Augustine's in a post from last August, forgive me.
