Why shouldn't I buy in Framingham? I work in Newton and I'm looking for a nice 4 bed house in a good neighborhood with good schools for under 600,000. I'm finding a lot of choices in F'ham, but I am not familiar with Mass. enough to decide.

What say you all?

There are actually a lot of better school districts nearby to there where you can find a lovely home in that price range: Southboro, Hopkinton & Holliston would be my first choices.

If you do choose Framingham, I'd highly recommend North Framingham (which is primarily zip code 01701) over South Framingham (zip code 01702), the latter of which is less desirable and has more crime. My favorite area of Framingham is Edmands Rd and the streets off of that - Winch, Pine Hill, Grove, etc. near Callahan State Park. It's so picturesque and has easy access to the Mass Pike & Rt 9. However, it's more winding country roads than subdevelopments in that area.

Smile Former Framingham Family

From a former Framingham family who just left after 15 years there I can tell you that we loved living there. We did live in "north" Framingham area more towards Sudbury and the Wayland area. Our daughters went through the public school system and did very well, I had no complaints at all(although given a choice for a middle schooler I would pick Fuller middle school if you could) and both are now in college doing extremely well. One is graduating this year with a degree in Mathematics and has applied to a graduate program and one is en early education major. I actually worked for the towns park and recreation department.
We only left due to my husband's job relocationg us to North Carolina. I do miss the people but not the winter.

If you have any questions feel free to private message me.
