It is curious that the local stores had their allocations slashed the same week the Stowe brewery opened. The stores seemed uninformed and surprised by the move.

It isn't curious, since they were selling the cans of heady (focal and the crusher never went to stores) that would have gone to stores/restaurants through their new place. They were maximizing output so they didn't have any more to send out.

I really don't think the Alchemist people still understand the demand. I was the 4th person in line when the new place opened for the first full day on 7/1 (I didn't go to VT for that, they announced it the day before, I just happened to be up there hiking/camping) and their rep when they came out said "you guys didn't need to get here early, we have plenty for everyone all day" yet they sold out of The Crusher withing a few hours, and they're still to this day selling out of The Crusher and Heady by 1-2 pm with only Focal and tasters remaining. Even the merch they have trouble keeping in stock from what I'm hearing.

For those headed to Stowe there is a place to stay and/or just get breakfast that simply rocks.
Look for the Stagecoach Inn in Waterbury for great omelets and even better potato pancakes. All you can eat breakfast buffet plus cooked-to-order eggs and pancakes and waffles.
Highly recommended!
