I can wait no longer. And im willing to be homeless to relocate to a better place. If it all doesnt go horribly wrong.

How is Father Bill's, the one that's right across the street from a Stop and Shop and Stop and Shop gas station and McDonalds? I think its not actually Boston but its close?

Can someone REALLY come with the clothes on their back, get a job, and do good, so long as they dont get arrested?

Discuss.

And I may not actually follow through. Was just wondering if anyone has had any experiences.

Yes, that one.

I apologize if I put this in the wrong forum?

I figured the Boston folks would pick up pretty quickly that its the one in Quincy. I was not aware that there was a second Father Bill's.

Father Bill's & MainSpring

I think the people they try to help are the ones that have been homeless for long periods and addicts.

I once worked with somebody who stayed at Father Bill's for a couple of months. The coworker had moved back here and something about not getting along with a stepparent and being kicked out of the house. My husband also knew somebody who'd been evicted and had stayed there for a spell.

I have no idea how many hoops they had to jump to get in there, but I do know that there's a time limit as to how long they could stay there. There's a curfew and something about having to be out of there during the day (aka "Why are all those homeless people hanging around? Because they can't stay at the shelter during the day, that's why.") Having a job helps, obviously, but I believe there's an income limit. Neither of the people I mentioned worked FT.

As CaseyB mentioned, many of Father Bill's clients nowadays are addicts. I imagine they have mandatory counseling? I honestly don't know.

We donate household goods to them every so often. Very nice people. Other than that, I have nothing

Father Bill's is, at the very least, a good place to connect to resources you might need. I'd also consider calling MassOptions at 1-844-422-6277. That's the "no wrong door" number for health/human services in MA. So instead of trying to figure out if the agency to help you is Veteran's Affairs, or Transitional Assistant, or MassHealth, or any other, just call that number and they'll get you pointed in the right direction.
