I just met a couple who had moved to Woburn, wanting to get back into Waltham as they have lived here previously, specifically for the school district. Ratings are interesting to me as well I guess, but more so for places I have no idea about. Where it counts, ratings are not so important to me. It is important to consider what population that school is serving and then get a clear idea of how serious they are about that service and how good a job they are doing at it. In the case of the school district in Waltham where I am at they do a great job. It is not the highest rated school, but most of the families involved know how involved and good the teachers are. That is far more important than the test scores to me.

Just took a look at homes in Waltham, and christ I didn't realize that Waltham has gotten so expensive. I know Waltham is a convenient location but i'm not sure I could swallow the price. You have to pay over half a million for a fixer uper in Waltham.

It is an extremely fast growing (pricewise) market. Anyone who wnts to buy has to show up early and offer quickly and high. Open houses are packed. I do think though, that there are non-fixer houses for under 500k but they will likely be 2 brdm or something like that.

For SFH though it's basically impossible to get anything under 500k. But yah it's possible with condos.
