As our 3 year contract finally comes to a close with Verizon, I am looking to get alot cheaper service for:

1) two cell phones
2) cable, 4 tvs
3) internet, currently on FIOS

We can live with less cell capability (dont need an i-phone with internet, etc). Need Basic Cable (Bruins, Patriots minimum) and perhaps a local news station. We get Netflix and watch it alot.

any ideas? thanks......SE MAss

Does RCN service your town? If you don't want a smart phone have you considered one of those "pre-pay" services? They sometimes offer more basic phones.

No on the RCN, Thanks tho.
Pre-Pay sounds inconvenient, but if I could keep my a particular phone number, it may work

You can get the patriots and local news using a $20 over-the-air HDTV antenna. No need for cable for that. I went for a $50 antenna mounted in the attic and can get about 20 channels, including the basic 4, 5, 7, and fox 25.

However, if you want bruins, you are stuck with cable.

Even with cable, good idea to have an OTA antenna anyway in case the cable goes out during a storm and you want to watch the news

We haven't had cable for 2+ years now. Netflix, and amazon video and the over-the-air antenna cover us wired to about 5 TV's. I only watch football, so OTA antenna covers me there. $29.99/monly for internet, and $50/month for her iphone on a family plan with AT&T. Work covers my iphone.

Yeah, Bruins and Sox are only through NESN, so if you want that there's no alternative to sticking with basic cable.

Prepaid isn't inconvenient. You can set up auto re-ups and you'd never know it wasn't a rolling plan. Unlimited talk, text and data, relatively inexpensive, $40 or so. Plenty of companies to choose from. Just make sure your phone's frequency bands match your carrier's.

I don't know what you're paying now, but a basic internet and cable package is still likely to run at least $50/month before taxes and assorted fees, which almost double the expense. So I don't know how much savings you'll actually realize.

How about Google Fi? You'd need to have a smartphone but if you don't use any of the data they'll refund you on your next bill for the unused data.

Just dumped my landline, Cell to 2G plan, since we are averaging only 1.2G per month. Dumping my youngest kid off the plan and saving more.

Got it all down to under $200 per month (2 cells, internet, and FIOS tv). Good enough for now, we were over $400.

Thanks for the input
