I posted this originally on the RI boards, but thought I might get more responses here!:

I currently live in the New Haven area and have been offered a job in Boston. My boyfriend lives in Groton and therefore, I'm not interested in relocating to Boston itself (also, I'm just not really a fan of the city).

What would be a desirable place for a young professional that would be about halfway between Groton and Boston? I was thinking probably Providence? Seems like living downtown and taking the bus or walking to the train station and then hopping on the commuter rail to Boston would be easiest option?

Or are there other towns/cities just over the MA border that I may not be thinking of? I'd really love to be as close to central between the two as possible, although if necessary, slightly closer to Boston. I've had 2 hr long commutes, so a long commute doesn't scare me. (The office is 10 minutes from Back Bay.) At this point in my life, I could live either in a city environment in an apartment or in a little house in a more suburban town. TIA!!
