Sorry to get folksy here, but this thread reminds me of something my father always told me...

He grew up in Jersey City, NJ, which means he always had to listen to jerks from NYC telling him how much of a dump Jersey was. He always told me that you should never insult someone's home. It doesn't matter how poor it is, it's where they live and it has meaning to them.

Belittling people because they live in a trailer park or a triple decker is really low class. I'm more likely to look down on people who write or say stuff like WROR or Turtleboy have written than I am the poor people he's insulting. Seriously guys, get some class.

Gotta disagree. I don't think he is picking on the people but honestly, these towns have been crud holes just forever. They are a blight and they should be ridiculed. Their leaders make decisions on how to spend the tax money and those decisions clearly aren't for the people.

Taking pictures of people and posting them on the internet to show other people in a jeering manner (and yes it was) is pretty rude. How would you feel if someone took a picture of your house, posted it online and said, look at this crudhole?

Nothing new here. There are dump cities in every state. It's just a fact of life.

Understandable but the author of the article is an ass about it

I guess not eveyone can be a hipster hanging out on their front porch drinking a latte or a craft beer. It's one thing to point out low income areas and say, hey look at the income inequality in this state but it seems these folks are like, wow look at how poor and trashy these people look-let's look at how pathetic they are.
Thank you, Whatsnext! Well said. Mods should take a stand on this sort of meanness.

Blog posts like that one have existed for a long time. Everybody thinks sites like "The People Of Walmart" and "My Redneck Neighbor" are hysterically funny and then someone posts a local one and people freak out.

Your father might be shocked to find out that some parts of Jersey City are now as expensive or even more expensive than parts of Manhattan under 96th

The writer should have felt at home as they are from Worcester. Most of those pictures could have been taken in Worcester.
