You could stop along the way in NH, buy guns, ammo and fireworks, but the ounce of weed will get you in cuffs. Cross the border into MA, and it all gets flipped around.

What an incredibly messed up state.
No wonder everyone I know chooses to live in VT instead, even if they work in NH.

Yeah, but despite MA's crappy laws, I still like living here.

So in other words, if you're a stoner come to MA. Everyone else, you're better off in NH.

politicians didn't want it passed and they've dragged their feet thru every self-imposed administrative hurdle. Their goal now is to make it so expensive nobody will buy it.

The issue is less about the tax rate than what that rate is applied to.
If it's the true agricultural value of marijuana then fine... tax it hard.

$5.00 per pound to the farmer to grow it.
$5.00 per pound to the packer to dry, clean and bag it.
$5.00 per pound to the distributor to get it to the stores.
$1.00 per pound to the LOCAL authorities to monitor all that.

That's a grand total of $16.00 per pound or (ready for it?) $1.00 per ounce.
Put a 1000% tax on top of that and your still at just $10.00 per ounce retail.

Naw, if you're into weapons of destruction, and living in a non self sufficient state, live in NH. If you're into getting government out of what you do with your own body, and public safety, live in MA.

I don't do weed, not cause I think its bad, but because it isn't healthy for me. Guns aren't healthy for anyone.

I don't do weed, not cause I think its bad, but because it isn't healthy for me, my body, my decision. Unlimited unrestricted guns aren't healthy for anyone (we're not talking about shooting sports and hunting weapons, no one is proposing restricting those, upland game bird and trap is awesome, but a non issue...)

Or denying LTCs to people with squeaky clean records, without cause. Happens all the time in MA. NH is also a "stand your ground" state. And oh, NH is statistically safer than MA.

But it's not just firearms laws. Fireworks, hunting seasons, laws governing ATVs, to name a few. NH is just a more laid back, common sense reliant kind of state. MA is the big brother, land of "we know what's best for you".
