These are all great responses thanks to all!

Just to chime in. I spent a great summer on Squam Lake, Holderness NH, Camp Deerwood, at 16 years old as a counselor in training. Really beautiful lake.

I agree that Squam lake is absolutely breathtaking. Unfortunately lakefront property there is similarly breathtakingly expensive. It’s nice that the size of the boats allowed on the lake is significantly limited. That camp looks like something out of a movie from an era gone by, in the best way possible.

Interesting camp. When I was there, summer of 1959, it was mostly Princeton University, New England area, John Hopkins, Baltimore area, college, prep school, lacrosse coaches and players. Very well run, and a great waterfront with a beautiful Criss-Craft to ski behind.

Prefer to go north/northwest - but open to any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.
