Alaska's population fell in 2017 because of low oil prices. Oil makes up a big part of the economy there. It has nothing to do with pot.

See: Supply (housing and water utilities) has not kept up with demand, driving COL higher and slowing growth

See: High COL drives up both SFH prices and rent, forcing current residents to either seek lower rents or cash out their equity in pursuit of cheaper/less dense locals.

See (already outline by Ty): Alaska economy is largely driven by the oil industry. With revenue hitting a sharp decline, those who came with the oil boom left with the oil bust.

You really need to educated yourself on "correlation vs. causation".

Plus in 2016 Oregon, Washington, and Colorado were all in the top 8 fastest growing states. And they were the first three states to legalize marijuana.

Though I don't think there is much causation between population, or economic growth, and the legalization of marijuana.

The only causation might be the inverse: strong modern economies > influx of young, educated, social-liberals > new cohort of young, educated, social liberals vote 'yes' along with secular libertarian types.

Alaska, Vermont, and Maine would be more of the government needs to leave me alone libertarian type rather then the yuppie type.

But yah I agree with you. I honestly don't think legalizing marijuana does much other then a slight increase in use among law abiding adults. Wror is making something that isn't a big deal into a big deal. The majority of home-buyers aren't even going to look at weather the city lets in pot shops when choosing a town to live in, it's really a non factor for the majority of people.

Grew up in MA, been in CA for 10+ years. CA "medical" was awesome. We just got recreational in January and it's ruined what was a great system. Now everything is taxed and prices have nearly doubled for everything.
