Sounds like you're enjoying the Mitsubishi - nice. Did you also explore/get any price quotes on the Fujitsu Halcyon XLTH that I think is a close competitor for the Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat?

Everyone said Mitsubishi was the best so no. I did not explore any other brands.

I did and they both offer similar products. I probably would have been happy with either, but most installers sell Mitsubishi.

I'm still paying off other repair bills (new windows and gutters) but still plan on eventually getting one installed, probably next spring though.

Please update this thread during the winter if you notice your electric bill has gone done due to the ductless minisplit.

For those that have a Mitsubishi installed, does it require much maintenance besides cleaning the filters?

Does anything need to be done to the outside unit?

I just hand clean the filters. For the outside unit I make sure there are no plants growing nearby, spray the fan and coils with a hose and wipe down the cabinet.

Thanks,

I still haven't tried all the modes on this thing yet.

Keep an eye on the water drains from the air handlers. They're usually clear plastic tubes that look like aquarium hoses. They get clogged by spider webs.

I notice a lot of the Fujitsu XLTH units in nice homes up in Maine. There really aren't any reviews of these products in say Consumer Reports though. Maybe just a stronger dealer network for Mitsubishi in MA and a stronger dealer network for Fujitsu in ME.
