Norway is probably the only country in the world where the socialist model works, with all the natural resources and wealth they have to spread around. I did a quick query of measures like disposable income and spending power, and the only sizable country that appears to beat the USA is Australia. I do know COL is through the roof over there, but still interesting.

Claiming it wouldn't work here is just an excuse. Saying the other countries aren't the same size, or diversity, as reasons not to try is just baloney. If anything, it should work better here with economies of scale (rural areas are a challenge of course).

Yes, Norway has that oil reserve. We have loads of natural resources as well... oil, gas, timber, coal, metals, etc. They just aren't harnessed for the collective good (outside of Alaska).

No the opposite. Surviving on tourism and as a tax haven for foreign investments is only viable for tiny countries like Switzerland and the Cayman Islands, not possible for a powerhouse country of 300m people.

Again, they have a MUCH MUCH smaller population to divide it among. It doesn't even compare, unless like you said you are looking at the individual state of Alaska.

They also don't have all the resources we have as an entire country.

So because of this it makes sense to spend way more money (per capitat) on a system that gets considerably worse results and covers fewer people? Ok. We aren't talking about how the money is being generated. Not sure why you're going on that track. I'm talking about how it is spent to benefit the people.
