Can anyone provide commute times from Dorchester or Quincy area to Chelmsford? I will be relocating and currently looking at Savin Hill and Quincy but one job option is in Chelmsford and I know how much the traffic sucks. I would be working normal 8-5 hours.

Look north of Boston if you're working in Chelmsford, unless you're content with your commute making you suicidal withing a week or so.

You say that one job option is in Chelmsford. Are there other possibilities, and where would those jobs be located?

If possible, you might want to choose a place to live once you know what the job will be and where it will be located. From Dorchester or Quincy to Chelmsford would be a tough commute.

I work in Chelmsford. Several of my colleagues commute from that direction...Attleboro, Plymouth, even Sandwich to name a few...but tend to leave early (~6 am) and leave early (~3 pm) although the latter sometimes doesn't help much apparently. My view is that the job would need to have stellar pay and advancement opportunities to be worth that kind of commute.

Attleboro, you can take I-495 to Chelmsford. That's not awful working flex hours. You could do it in an hour most of the time working 7am to 3pm. A 128 commute simply isn't viable.

I would not recommend that commute. If you choose the Chelmsford job look for an apartment in that area. Chelmsford, Lowell, Westford, Tewksbury, Billerica etc

Look north of the city... If you want some semblance of a city, look at Somerville, Arlington, Medford. Or, if you want a slice of the coast, look at Newburyport and do the 495 commute.

Yah that would get old quickly. Really the biggest issue will be getting through the tunnel, both in the afternoon and evening.
