Just presents late-night gamblers a quick meal option at 2AM before heading back to the slots.

Nah - casinos don’t want anyone leaving the building for food. There will be plenty of options inside.

Yeah but $1 hamburger outside, vs $25 hamburger inside. After losing your shirt at the craps table what seems like a better option.

BTW I seriously don't think McDonald's is going to steal any business from the casino.

I wonder how this casino is going to impact the image and desirability of places like Somerville and Melrose which have been in an upward trajectory for many years. Maybe it's the snob in me, but I equate neighborhood casino with low brow culture regardless of how beautiful the landscaping and building might be.

Somerville tied shaking it down but it won't work.

The other part is the hotel rooms will drop in price in the Boston region. That's where the real opposition comes from. Boston has some of the most expensive hotel rates in the country.

I don’t expect hotel prices to come down in Boston due to the Encore. Something like 5,000 hotel rooms have been built in Boston in the last 10 years. Prices haven’t dropped any.

Absolutely agree. Instead of bringing in a reputable industry, they bring something seedy like this. You can expect local crime to soar pretty quickly, along with the inevitable bankruptcies, etc..

I suppose this may put a dent in of some of the AirBnB hosts.
