I was surprised Tahanto (39) was higher than the likes of Algonuin (42), Shrewsbury (47), Groton-Dunstable (53), Lincoln-Sudbury (70) and Wachusett (103)

The south shore towns surprised me:

Norwell: #22
Cohasset: #33
Scituate: #40
Duxbury: #41
Hingham: #50

usually Hingham is at the top of the list--odd to see them at the bottom of these 5.

Did you find out what happened with the difference in the rankings this year? Like I posted I was suprised Nashoba regional was #17 (usaully it seems to be in the 30s)
I would be interested in what changed in the data looked at.

Thanks!

Best High Schools in Western Mass:
1. Lenox (#32)
2. Longmeadow (#51)
3. Northampton (#59)

what happened to Amherst? Not even in the top 100.

40% is tied to AP exams. If the school stresses AP exams, it's going to out-score an otherwise academically superior school.

Personally, I think it's a bad idea to AP test out of first semester college courses. That's a social adjustment period and it's better to have some courses that are more review than breaking new ground.

Mystic valley charter school is number 11.
Any one has opinion on this school. I have a option to move my kid there from Melrose schools.

Limestone Maine surprised me. Unbearable affluent Massaholes who need the BEST schools but only have a budget of $900k should promptly move there and purchase the entire community. https://www.boston.com/news/educatio...second-us-news

It's a special magnet boarding school, state pays the tuition for any qualifying state resident while the student's family pays room and board. I believe out of staters can attend if they pay the full cost tuition and all.

So in theory, those massaholes could move to one of the affluent communities in Southern Maine like Falmouth that would still be a bargain relative to the out of control "metro-west gold plated" suburbs. They don't have to worry about rubbing shoulders with the plow boys up in the County or anything freaky like that.

US News is the Worst.

IMO the best for "rankings"

-Looking for median Family Income on wikipedia
-MCAS Data (can filter by ethnicity, needs, etc.)
-Niche
-Boston Magazine
