I am not being testy. I was explaining that there are things I already know which you don't seem to realize, that's all. Is that statement allowed without being called "testy"?

The one thing I'd consider if you are retirees though are the stairs. Eventually they will become an issue, and those stairs look steep and narrow.
To be honest, I want to find a nicer house than that one. LOL Would be glad to move 20 miles further out to get it (West, not southeastern Mass.) We are not worried about stairs. They are good for you! We aren't feeble old people and stay in good shape.

My experience on getting a "turnkey" home meant new and I got to pick the options. I got what I wanted, the way I wanted it, and when I wanted it.

Very nice! However, they would have a lot of rules on cats. We are former rescuers and have 12 inside and 2 outside, sheltered cats. Need our freedom to care for them in a new home. Most places like this would have restrictions, I believe. So, we would want an established house where no one is going to set up rules.

With that many cats, I would move to Worcester.

Yea that dead in the middle of the ghetto. That area has gotten nicer since they tore down Franklin Hill projects and built some new housing there over the past 15 years but it is absolutely not a nice area. Durg dealing prosititution, vandalism and general thuggery. Dont let the price fool you its not gentrifying over there, its just expensive.

That being said, there are tons of places under that in Mattapan Hyde Park Roxbury and Dorchester from a 1-minute trulia search i saw like 7 on the first page.

No you do not need to go all the way to Worcester with that budget.

Martha Anne, I know you said you're not posting anything about this anymore, but when you said west of Boston, I thought of Wayland. I lived in Mass. for many years but also have been away for many years, so I don't know ... just thought I'd throw this out there. Something like this looks nice. Your mileage may vary. But maybe food for thought as to area(s) to check out.
