Totally agree. In 9mos-1yr the novelty will wear off and the younger/shiny crowd will find greener pastures. Encore will be left with the usual degenerates combined with an off piste location and will become yet another underperforming casino as mobile sports betting proliferates. Draftkings will be eating their dinner in 2-3 years.

Dealers were nervous and many were clearly right out of dealing school...couldn't count, raked winning hands, etc. Pit bosses weren't any better.

Serious gamblers don't go during prime time hours - especially weekends. Too crowded (that's why the minimums are so high) and you get casual flakes not playing their hands correctly and screwing up the whole table.

Best time is weekdays from midnight to 6:00am.

I'm definitely not a serious gambler. However, I'm not a moron gambler either. Nothing pushes my buttons faster than when I sit down at a table with a moron. I was once at a Bar Mitzvah with a casino theme and some 13 year old kid split tens and I lost my mind. I couldn't play anymore after that.

Maybe he was counting cards.

Why do you care whether the person next to you is giving their money to the casino in an "amateurish, moronic" way, or in a "serious, proper" way?

There is a running argument that says it does not matter how a player screws up such as ones before you or the 3rd base seat, that you will win/lose no matter what they do. Yes dumb play upsets me, but again it does not affect me.

Do you not play blackjack? Most players see it as "team sport" and everyone has to be on board at the table otherwise it messes up the cards for everyone else. I'm sure it's all luck with how the cards fall. However, i can assure you every time I've sat at a table with a player who is clueless they end up costing me money. It never fails.

Team sport your butt....LOL It is me against the house. I have played in casinos all over the world and I like Vegas the best. In the 70's, I dated a gal that was a blackjack dealer in Vegas. She taught me a lot. I am not a card counter and while I do not always win, I rarely lose much.

Depending on what the dealer was showing, it may have been the mathematically correct move to split the tens.

There's three simple rules when playing blackjack:

1) You don't hit a hard 17 or above regardless of what the dealer is showing.

2) You assume ALL unshown cards will be tens/faces. Splitting and doubling down should be taken advantage of when applying this rule (but not when the dealer is showing 7 or higher). The only exceptions to this rule are 12 versus 2 and 13 versus 2; you should hit those.

3) Never buy insurance.

So, if the dealer at the Bar Mitzvah was showing 2 through 6, splitting tens would have been the correct move.

This is why I stick to Roulette.

I can be as reckless as I want without affecting the game of others
