What are the best ways to commute to Downtown Crossing from Middleton during rush hours? I have seen Coach Co but it appears like that's being discontinued. Are there any other similar private services?
One option would be to take the Haverhill Line and then transfer at North Station to Orange. Not a great option but you could do it.
I think it would be easier to park near Beverly Depot or Salem T station. I have heard that Reading station parking is mostly for residents. So, it may be better to depend on Newburyport Line in that case. I was mostly interested in private buses.
Parking is a pain near Oak Grove. Malden Station parking is more easier I believe, however the train gets packed in Malden. Orange Line is the worst way (its dirty, stinky and packed) to commute to Boston I hope it gets better once the trains are replaced
Middleton to Malden center is a haul each day. Especially if you are north of 114 to start. Gotta be over an hr. Plus 5 or 6 dollars a day to park. And then 20 minutes on the train minimum.
So you asked for "best ways to commute to Downtown Crossing from Middleton" and then you have dismissed the suggestions offered.
I live in Lynnfield, on the Peabody/Middleton line. I commuted for many years to the Back Bay via the Orange Line from Oak Grove. I know what I am talking about.
Yes, you need to be at Oak Grove by 7:00 AM to get a decent parking spot. Yes, it now costs $9.00 per day to park. There is no easy answer or silver bullet. You want an easier commute? Live closer to Boston.

I am not dismissing any of your suggestions guys. Not sure why you think I came across like that. I was merely commenting on the suggestions for which I am greatly thankful for.
Anyway, at this point I am driving to Malden Center since parking is filling up in Oak Grove. Granted I reach Oak Grove by 8:00 AM.
It appears like Coach Co has not cancelled the Peabody stop after all. Does anyone have good experiences with Coach Co bus? It is expensive but is it worth the additional cost.
