As I mentioned earlier in the thread, there are too many casinos. Too many options. All of them will feel it. Some more than others.

The thing is many just casually gamble. So instead of a $5 ticket once a week it's $20-25 a month at a casino. Mgm has free coffee and soda, is open 24/7 and the bathrooms are clean. This differs from places that close, no happy hour and a lack of staffing. Encoure I'd say is the sane. Gradually more develops due to this.

Many gateway cities are non profit and governmental based. So 8-5 Monday to Friday its busy but then dead. So then there is weekend and after hours activity.

Sometimes it is just nice to people watch. There's this Elvis impersonator that hangs around mgm (Andy Kaufman like) Gronk as how's up now and then. They're always live music. Mgm has brought more life to the local music scene then anything here in decades.

Encore should use the rest of its land to build a pool or 2, bring some nice fast casual places (Shake Shack Wahlburgers, Blaze Pizza and maybe a Cheesecake Factory), and some decent desirable retail (Sephora, Nordstrom Rack, Banana Republic-that ilk), maybe one other night club to take some of the heat and craziness off of Memoire.

This would allow the casino to not get rid of anything upscale, without bringing in anything boring or lowbrow.

You would think though their market research couldn't be that out of whack. This is pretty high stakes stuff.
I wouldn’t be shocked if very little reaseach went into it. like something like “Boston is big and wealthy and Buffalo that’s small and poor has a Casino so it must work”. Or they didn’t even care about making tons money in Boston that much but having the flagship casino in New England be a Wynn Casino would druve brand awareness of their Vegas Casino. So even a modest profit would be a success.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/02/...-food-options/

They've added 40 automatic drink making machines and a taco truck inside. Nachos go for 7$ and you get 3 tacos for $9 or a full meal for $12. They've also lowered prices at some of their restaurants. They'll just keep downgrading until they reach middle market consumers i guess. Thank goodness

Was at Foxwoods two weeks ago. Had a great time, but their smoking policy is terrible. They have designated smoking and non-smoking casinos but it’s loosely enforced. The entire floor is smoke filled and people were openly smoking in the non smoking casino without care.

Encore is entirely non-smoking, so next Time we will just head there.

Oh and Foxwoods isn’t really located in any better area than compared to Everett. Entire surrounded community seemed blighted.

The smoking there is terrible. I used to go to Foxwoods to play poker, I would go straight from the parking lot to the poker room which is non-smoking, and straight to my car when I left. Everytime my sweater would reak of cigarette smoke.

It's like that at any casino, however. Especially in Vegas.

Per mass regs there is no smoking in any casino. Outside maybe but not inside.
