I’ve tried googling but can’t seem to find anyone that does.

Uh...pay the dang $99 for a turkey fryer and do it in your driveway? It's an investment man...

I had it once in the South and it was one of the most disgusting things I've ever had. Just eat real roast turkey.

First time I EVER heard a reaction like that, something must have gone way wrong.

No, the other people liked it well enough. Mostly all I could taste was smoke and grease. The rest of the meal was fine though.

That's not how it should taste. Should be similar to roast turkey, only juicier and more tender (of course the skin should be crispier).

I had it once when the hosts had to cook a 2nd turkey to feed everyone. It's good, but I don't know how many places serve it.

I'd just get the fryer at Bass Pro Shops or somewhere like that.

I did a fried turkey after moving to SC. My dinner guests all loved it. The Southerner couples said it was as good as any they ever had. The Yankee couples (myself included) liked it but said they preferred a baked turkey. Myself, I prefer baked.

Roasted, yes, any day. I don't eat the skin anyway so that part doesn't matter but I think the smoke from the frying had penetrated the meat enough so that it tasted to me of smoke, which I didn't like. All the southerners thought it was great though.
