We got to wondering if Massachusetts had a state song. With a google search, we came up with this:

How many here knew the song and lyrics? Just curious

Cool song. Of course, the Fitzgerald Expressway is long gone. Never mind that there is no fricken way anyone can drive that fast on those streets these days.

And, then there is this by Freddy Cannon:

Then there is this --- The Standells weren't even from Boston. BTW, did you know that the line about the frustrated women who had to be in by 12 o'clock referred to BU students? They used to have rules waaay back in the day that required women to be in their dorm by midnight:

That's a motto that was on license plates, and an advertising campaign.

This is one of the alternate official songs:

I like that Bee Gees song! The story I heard about it was that it was about the big blackout in 1965.

Hmmmm, never heard that story. Oh yeah, "The lights all went out in Massachusetts..."

That would be a better state song that the ones that just talk about Boston.

edit--That first song is really good, pretty old fashioned but it has a more official sound to it.

Towards the end of that song, they say "I love Boston, that is everybody but the strangler".
