Cambridge

Spent a year “living” there with an ex while in college. Not a fan.

Wow. It was my chosen home for years but that's when so many friends lived in the area and there was a lot going on of interest. (I should have noticed the psycho who hated women in adjoining apartments and painted the steps with slippery stuff to kill us. Then I had a tiny condo and was prosecute by the city for living in it and not renting it out at rent control prices and I had to go to a hearing and plead the Fifth Amendment about my address. Somewhere around then Cambridge ceased to be home for me and never would be again.)

Isn’t Easton the only possible answer?

I think you can find an OK place to live pretty much anywhere in Massachusetts if your job landed you there with a residency requirement and you’re higher income for the town; assuming you don’t have to use the school system. Lawrence over the line from the Andover Country Club would be fine. If you’re lower income and have to live in the least expensive rental housing, you don’t have those choices.

Brockton
Fall River
New Bedford
Lowell
Lawrence
Fitchburg
Springfield
Holyoke
Dorchester
Roxbury
Framingham

I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving my door unlocked in any of those places.

You probably shouldn’t . But you left some places off that list.

Framingham is mostly quite nice. I really like Framingham. Even the bad part of Framingham isn’t really bad.

Err... wasn't there just a double homicide? There are literally homeless people yelling at themselves walking on the downtown.

I don't even see that in Fitchburg.

Any place can be a living hellhole if you have awful neighbors.

Why are these houses in Lawrence sideways? 6 of them. Any why no windows other than the small circle thing?

Probably not enough frontage on the street to build the # of desired units. These look like townhomes of some sort, so rotating them allows more units on a common driveway.
