Since the protests happened more than half a year ago. I'd make the argument that they're going to do layoffs. They could have done them earlier. That would be related to this. Having said this though. The novelty is probably wearing off.

What I call Wayfair tech company know but at the same time everything these days is related to technology. Amazon is a technology company because AWS is the backboard for so much of the internet. Then add in all the affiliate ads then add in the Kindle platform which includes audiobooks, the courses that people can actually teach, the third party selling which happen of fulfillment by Amazon, The complete distribution system the keyword management that relates to the algorithm. Ensuring that when you type something in that your inability to see and purchase it roughly in less than a half a week. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_Web_Services

The major tech companies that are running our Amazon, alphabet, Netflix, Apple, Facebook, Nvidia, Microsoft etc These companies have a 1 trillion dollar market cap. Wayfair is about 7.5 billion, nowhere even close.

The scary part Is I've been hearing some people compared to value America. There's nothing wrong with being a tech company and not having a profit as long as your recycling some of the revenue into other ventures in January expanding, but Wayfair hasn't done that. More importantly, would you selling furniture? It's not like you update Furniture like you're updating app on a phone. It's a physical product that requires more money to ship and then there's more of a return policy. . Now getting to a specific niche of say customize furniture for people that are disabled or elderly that could have a significant impact.

The job market is really good still. If these people bring anything to the table, they’ll be back in a job within a few weeks.

Those Wayfare employees that bad mouthed the company are gone.
The proof will be when they start another protest about how they were fired for protesting the company. And or try a class action lawsuit.

And for those fired Wayfair employees that bad mouthed their own company, if they are thinking they might jump over to work retail at Walmart. Walmart and Wayfair are THISCLOSE in the business world. They will not even be able to get a job as a Walmart greeter or clean the filthy bathrooms at Walmarts.
Something tells me that someone who protests selling furniture to ICE is even going to apply for a job at Walmart. Plus, who wants to relocate to Bentonville?

It's funny seeing OP, who has no clue on the actual situation, draw two random pieces of information and try to make a story. Just like a person looking at a Rorschach test. The simple answer is that Wayfair had a prolonged 6 year run of 40-60% annual growth and hired based on this expectation. Revenue growth decelerated this year, and they need to right-size the cost structure. Employees are 70% of the SG&A. Nothing extreme, but the forecast was off.

Tying this to free speech protests is amusing for me to see the stories people make up, but factually wrong. The real reason is mundane.

Doing a quick check of Jobs available at Wayfair today.

Well, well, well, a day after firing hundreds of employees, Wayfair are seeking bilingual-speaking applicants for job positions. Perhaps some of the Border crossing immigrants will be hired.

That is the future of holding a job in Massachusetts, bilingual-speaking employees.

Quite a few of my friends work at Wayfair - it had nothing to do with the walkouts. All of my friends walked out. None were laid off.

One of my closest friends left Wayfair in December because the work environment was so poor. It was a great place to work a few years ago, but anecdotally my friends have all had growing issues in various departments (mostly tech and marketing).

Love the conspiracy theories

....or maybe, just maybe it is a last ditch effort to show some fiscal restraint in advance of the Q4 earnings call later this month .... which is likely to be a somber affair.

Chasing revenue growth at any cost, including profit, is catching up with them and the market is punishing them accordingly.

Still, it's only 3% of their workforce - need to cut a lot more.
