This is true. It was a lie and has benefitted black and brown communities in any real way. maybe fewer arrests?

There's not even a black or latino owned shop open yet (there will be ONE soon) re 1.35 MILLION blacks and latinos in Massachusetts..

But it's still better than not legalizing it. Crime has declined since legalization statewide and tax revenue that wasn't there...is now there

The Only shop approved for Boston is owned by two Black men.So I would say that it has benefited them 100% more than any other demographic.

A bit of an understatement considering black MA residents are 3.3 times more likely to be searched during a stop. Yeah, there should be a lot fewer arrests and/or fines.

Also, there are hardly any shops open in areas with a notable minority community, so I'd say it's a bit early to judge the issuing of licenses.

yo so what about the pother 150 licenses ? They've licensed like 8 people of color over all.

You do realize that all 36 shops open right now are white-owned, right?

You ever heard of tokenism?

Its not early. We approved this law 3.5 years ago, licensing began 1,5 years ago, after a 6 month delay. They've opened 36 shops-none has been owned by a black or latino. Black people are not that dumb nor that idle, Shrewsburried. Cmon now.

The fact that we'll have one out of 50 in a few months is ridiculous considering the spirit of the law as to empower black communities. None of the funds have been allocated to philanthropic organizations meant to help minorities, nor have any extra funds been allocated to high minority % areas of the state.

You cannot **** on our backs and tell us it is raining.

The insanely low standards that some white people expect blacks and hispanics to be content with is legitimately confusing and wildly insulting.

Studies show we will experience injustice after injustice, disparity after disparity and well get tossed some pithyl token and people like GeePee will legitimately think we should be "grateful"...like some sort of field hand brought in to slave inside the house for a few days.

Recreational marijuana rollout has proved an unneeded, humiliating, and frustrating reminder of why blacks cannot, will not and should not trust the government to ensure equitable access to opportunity let alone equality for minorities. And why the black community is a low trust community nin general but particularly in regards to the government.

White Americans cant expect black people to always accept kinda sorta almost good enough' all the time. Too often white americans expect black and brown americans to accept standards you would never accept for your own community and then you wonder why these inequalities and issues persists. Its because were being given the short end of the stick all the time, with a few tokens and expected to be content with that and when were not-now we're being unreasonable or 'victims'. Its sick.

I mean to be fair, it's damn near impossible for anyone without extreme capital or political ties to buy into to this scam in Boston. Black or white.

Yeah, that's the issue, and lets be real, that barrier of large amounts of capital is pretty race based in our society. Sure, by having to have millions to get in the game, you're keeping out almost everyone of every race, but you're clearly keeping out, disproportionally, minorities. That's no accident, and its was done despite the lip service of empowerment of minority communities.

BBMM, I don't know if this information is publicly available but I wonder how many black and latino people have applied for a license. And what percentage have been turned down.
