The J&J vaccine was contaminated with the AZ vaccine right?. I wonder if the efficacy of the vaccine was actually affected in the discarded doses.
Now downplaying it but some media make it sound like getting there was a potential risk for the public but I think in reality there was never any risk, besides having to take another dose.

They changed the age ranges on the case counts on the dashboard. 20-29 is where the majority of the cases are right now.

Nationally, hospitalizations are highest among people in their 30s and 40s.

The UK variant is now the dominant strain in the US and it's getting ugly in some places. Michigan, for example, has seen a 104% increase in cases during the past week.

The virus is not only spreading faster now than it did at the beginning of the pandemic, it's also more dangerous - especially with young people.

It would be great if this works.

Upamostat: Pop a pill to keep COVID symptoms at bay

Quote:
When it comes to treating COVID, could it be possible to pop a pill and avoid the serious side effects that sometimes develop? Researchers are testing an investigational drug that may lessen the severity of the virus.

For some, COVID symptoms can be very mild at first -- a stuffy nose, cough, or low-grade fever. But can you keep COVID from getting worse? Researchers at University Hospital in Cleveland are studying an antiviral drug called Upamostat. They want to know if taking one pill a day, right away, will help.

A third of COVID survivors suffer neurological or mental disorders, study finds

"The new findings, published in the Lancet Psychiatry journal, analyzed health records of 236,379 COVID-19 patients, mostly from the United States, and found 34% had been diagnosed with neurological or psychiatric illnesses within six months."

New England in general is also leading the way when it comes to vaccinations per 100 people. According to this, all 6 New England states are in the top 8.

https://ourworldindata.org/us-states-vaccinations
https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/u...~Texas~Florida

(these graphs are kinda clunky to use as they don't automatically show the top states. You need to add them and remove lower ranking states)

If you move the slider backwards, you'll see that this is a recent improvement, as a few weeks ago they ranked much lower in terms of vax per 100.

Hopefully this trend continues to improve in the region.

EDIT: Apparently those graphs are doses per 100. It doesn't break down if it's single shot J&J or two shots of the mRNA doses into the same person

I had my first the other day. the second is planned for four weeks. A tad sore but ok.We'll get though this folks.

at this point I'm more concerned internationally. I mean it's one thing to have borders (mostly) closed due to this but it's going to be harder to tell people fully vaccinated that they shouldn't travel. At the same point if the world gets flooded with arrogant Americans acting like Superman that could backfire fast.

Feds giving MA a one time allotment of an additional 830k doses on top of what they normally get.

Don't see the problem. It's not like they would spread the virus if they are vaccinated. You're also only talking about a handful of touristy countries too, biz travel is still way down.
