So you stop house parties. And mega-churches. And Sox games. The name of the game is lowering the transmission rate to the level where there isn't another wave. You want societal contact to be work-oriented with masks and as much distancing as is possible, not big group leisure experience things.

It’s not that easy to stop a house party. Sure the police can show up but if someone has rona damage has already been done.

Was it well thought out of Baker to drop the school news on Tue of the week most kids are on break so there will be no communication from the schools for 6 days? I'm already getting lit up with texts from other parents panicking about remote learning for 8 more weeks...

So don't go to a house party if you get invited to one. Problem avoided.

We're going to have to find some way to coexist with the virus somehow for the indefinite future. That means deciding what activities and expeditions are worth the exposure risk to ourselves.

You can't win either way. Half the people in the US are complaining about the lack of response from the gov't and the other half are complaining they have gone too far.

There is growing evidence that the vast majority of cases are asymptomatic. If the next couple of months proves that out then the best course of action will be for those people who feel fearful or vulnerable to the virus will need to voluntarily self-isolate until a vaccine is developed or herd immunity stops the virus while the remaining people go about their lives.

The next virus released into the world will make the coronavirus times look like the good old days.

Perhaps the next virus will be like the Flu of 1918,the virus that targeted and killed mostly 20-40 year olds.
That would be you Gen Z and Millennials that arrogantly feel this is just a flu targeting just older people. Take Care.

I think even the staunch holdouts living in abject terror of contracting Covid will break before a vaccine/herd immunity develops. As more people realize that even with near-ideal social distancing (which we will never, ever, ever get remotely close to doing) this virus is here for at least a year, if not longer, some of those isolators will start to re-assess the risk of going out versus isolating at home until 2022 or later.

Isolating for a month or three is one thing; doing it for a year or three is another.
