As people spend more time indoors in the fall and winter they are probably more apt to get sick. HVAC systems are going to have to be viewed more and adjusted. I'd argue that if offices can't find a way to get people inside now it might be harder later on.

This might be an old wives tale but basically the idea that "Don't go outside you'll catch a cold" didn't mean anything. We associate colds more with colder weather because we're more indoor and and apt to catch. Heck just ask any early ed teachers when they catch colds, it isn't in the summer that's for sure.

Which offices are even opening up now? I don’t know anyone who has returned. A friend of mine has an office in Faneuil hall and they’ve decided to close completely and just have people WFH.

I also think things will be worse once cold weather arrives. With that season arrives colds, flu, strep etc. it will really be the first season where we will have to wonder if a cold is a corona and that’s never happened before. It will be stressful trying to tell the difference. If someone is sneezing at work or on the train everyone will freak out thinking they’ve got corona. Things won’t be ‘normal’ for a while.

So what you do think... Should I get tested at my physical coming up? Don't really want to spend the money but I am a little curious if I did get it and was asymptomatic.

It's fairly easy to get tested in MA now (see link below). Our family had a couple of brushes recently which prompted me to get tested. Would recommend doing it on your own, if concerned, and just letting your primary care physician know the results.

I thought CVS only did PCR testing? - which is for active infections

For antibody testing, Quest or LabCorp are your best bets.

Depends on what OP is asking I suppose.

Yes, exactly. I just noted the past tense used by the OP...so you're correct, the CVS test is not for antibodies, therefore it would be for detecting active infections only.

Yeah it would be for antibodies. Maybe I'll ask, see what they think.

Is the test still the uncomfortable nose swap? The one that gets placed deep into your nasal cavity? Or did they transition to a more less invasive swab that isn't as uncomfortable?

I got the former back in March, and wasn't a fan of it

The nasal swab is the most effective method of obtaining a sample when testing for an active case.

A blood sample is taken when testing for anti-bodies caused by a past case.
