Another pet peeve. "Hey, I'm staying isolated at home! I'm doing the right thing!" while they pay pennies to gig economy people living hand to mouth to walk their dogs, do their shopping, etc. Gross (unless that person has a compromised immune system of some sort or needs to quarantine).

Yeah, that sort of stuff is causing drama on our side.

We aren't going to this party due to Covid...but we need to go to this event

All or nothing IMHO

I don't know why anyone would even plan any type of party or event right now. The people across the st from us had a party the week before halloween. It was all outdoors, the invited us but I was kind of like why? We really don't know them and didn't go. Some people just can't contain themselves from showering themselves and their kids with parties.

Supporting gig workers is gross?

What's gross is people living their lives as if there isn't a pandemic.

You said you had contact with 30+ people you don't know while at your job over the weekend. If you have an essential job, then it is what it is. But are you isolating when not at your essential job? I don't believe you are. Heck, you've told us that you are regularly out and about protesting with large groups of people. So irresponsible.

How exactly do you think people survive when they lose their jobs at restaurants or wherever? They take on these types of jobs. Who do you think supports them? The responsible people who stay home do. The people who you consider gross.

I don't really get this mentality either of it being gross to pay someone to do things you dont want to do. If someone is willing to be a dog walker or shop for groceries for someone who doesn't want to and they are getting paid to do it what is the problem? Are you saying the person who doesn't want to do these things shouldn't encourage others to do them? Unfortunately this is just life. Maybe these people have no other job skills and this is all they can do right now. Isn't it good that there are people who will pay them? Should CEOs not hire secretaries because it's gross they won't do that work themselves?

I think people also need to accept the fact that some people are way more afraid of this virus than others. Just because YOU don't want to go out side to walk your dog (which does seem crazy to me) or go to the store it doesn't mean others aren't doing these things.

This is why I don't tip less than $5 for anything now. Grab a coffee at the local coffee roaster while picking up a bag of beans? 200% tip.

I tip 30% for takeout, delivery, or any other services I receive. I have heard from several people that their tips are actually *worse* during the pandemic because people are getting, say, grocery delivery when they previously would not but aren't budgeting in to tip.

Right, I mean can you really blame somebody for wanting to feed themselves and keep a roof over their heads even if it means walking a dog or making grocery store runs for penny wages? Times are tough, could just be me but good for them for hiring somebody who might otherwise be out in the streets.

Please read before commenting. You clearly didn't. (Its chronic on this forum, people comment before damn reading and thinking.)

There isn't inherently a problem unless its coupled with lack of self awareness or being holier than though about others. Paying other people to do tasks is fine; coupling it with chastising others for doing the work they need to do to live IS NOT. Very few people are fortunate enough to be able to work fully from home and pay people to do their dirty work for them. They should be thankful, not bleeping self righteous.

And to the clown that thinks its "irresponsible" to peacefully exercise first amendment rights while following the protocols put forth by the public health agencies in charge of doing so: shove it where your uniformed ignorant statements don't shine. There is a reason why people should be listening to public health officials and not clueless internet shut ins.

Agree not everything is rich people's faults. I also don't think people having others do favors for them are necessarily rich. They're scared.
