And they're not a "police force" so people need to stop using the word police. They're county jail guards converted to sheriff with zero police training. Their authority is to transport prisoners in and out of the county jails.

You have attempted that same claim on this very thread, and has already been debunked. They receive the same academy training that all cops in the state do. Why do you keep coming back with this?

That does not negate his larger point, or mine.

If a county sheriff has already used his deputies outside of their intended role (i.e., patrolling areas already within NB/FR PD jurisdiction), why is it 'fantasy' to assume the same sheriff might again act outside the intended role to, say, patrol the polling centers? Particularly given the current context, in which that sheriff is the election chair of a minority supported demagogue who frequently advocates against civil rights, voting rights, etc.

This is all to say ... if you think a handful of state reps are the "authoritarians", you might want to ask yourself whether your ideology has impaired you with a bad case of cognitive dissonance.

And up and down the northeastern seaboard. I've spoken with a couple of Bristol County "sheriffs" up here in Middlesex County. They were moving ICE detainees between MA and NJ on a regular basis.

It's also not accurate. In 2020, nobody gets union cop jobs without a criminal justice degree. The Bristol County Jail employees do paid computer learning and a boot camp. Anything beyond a High School diploma is waived with an honorable military discharge. That is not the level of training of a New Bedford cop or a State cop. It's the level of training appropriate for transporting prisoners.

I always find hilarious that people from Spain are considered Hispanic/Latino. Why not Portuguese, Italians and Brazilians then?

I find it hilarious that Latin is the original language of Rome yet now it is used to describe people in Central and South America.

You have to speak Spanish to be considered "Hispanic".
