We are a young Indian (Asian) family moving to MA along with our parents. We wanted to know how is the Medfield area and how it compares with Sharon. We were in Ma last week and explored Sharon a lot but the homes available are limited. We see Medfield also has some options but people seem to rate Sharon better than Medfield. Hence looking for some inputs.

Sone additional info- schools are important to us, we will need to travel to Backbay for work,so will need to take commuter rail, we like a community feel like an estate kind of community if you know what I mean.

Thank you Casey. Is it ok to ask if there is Indian community there in the Medfield area. We have parents who are older and so it would be nice to have people in the area to socialize for them.

I don't know. If that is your concern then Sharon might be better. Norwood seems to have a larger Indian community as well.

First, let me just say there are no homes for sale anywhere and that's true pretty much nationally and the entire country basically is pretty solidly in a seller's market. So, I can't say your house hunt would be easier in one town vs. the other. Likely, you just happened to show up one weekend where Medfield had more listings than Sharon and that could very easily reverse itself next weekend.

Second, both towns have really highly regarded school systems. So, you can't go wrong with either choice in that regard. I do like that Medfield has a town center area and a smattering of good restaurants in town and the real estate tax rate in Medfield is a good bit lower than in Sharon because there is more commercial property in Medfield.

Third issue is commuting. It is nice that Sharon has a commuter rail station in town but if you live in the right part of Medfield it's not a bad drive to the station in Walpole. If you have to drive across Medfield or drive to the commuter rail stops in Wellesley and Needham (like my brother in law did pre-COVID) then that's going to add a lot of time to your commute.

Thank you Casey and Mike. I truly appreciate your responses. Definitely, the inventory is so low and we need to take decisions fast which is difficult being in a different state right now and traveling frequently with covid is also a concern. But I will keep your recommendations in mind while looking. Thank you again.

Sharon is probably an order of magnitude more diverse than Medfield.
