Just curious, when he shows the color-coded map of MA, is he correct in his placement of the hippie regions?

Yeah, I wasn't wild about his personality. His tone somehow managed to be critical of both rich towns / people (like they're snobby elites living in a walled-off enclave) as well as humble towns / people (like they're on drugs, committing crimes and living in a dump). Snide, snark and negative more often seem to get the clicks on the interwebs though, so maybe he's just catering to his audience.

That graphic is a joke that's been circulating for years. While there is some truth built into it, it's not an accurate reference.

Except for the "There be dragons here" zone. Stay away from there.

I believe you and will stay away!

So the hippie stuff is at least a little bit true? Do any specific towns come to mind that are particularly hippie-ish? And by hippie I mean tree-hugging, nature/peace-loving, granola-eating, into meditation and stuff types.

Was a joke. There is nothing wrong with that area.

Unfortunately i don't have that much experience in that part of the state in terms of hippiesque communities

I know, I was just joking around too

I agree that is not a hippy part of the state. Probably one of the least hippy in fact. Although in that drawing I think is included Holden and especially Gardner, Fitchburg and Leominster...not exactly tiny bucolic villages

Yeah, I think that maybe you can find comparable rents in Holyoke, Pittsfield, and possibly some of the Rt. 2 Corridor from Gardner to points west, but all of these places are going to be pretty similar.

Rents in the downtown are about $1300 a month.

Cheaper in Great Barrington, Greenfield, North Attleboro, Fall River, Fitchburg, Pittsfield. The Berkshires and Franklin county is a bit cheaper. Most of western Mass is consolidating to Hampshire and Hamden County. Even before covid I noticed this. I'm not saying the area is booming but if you have a place with a flat population next to one that is shrinking people will start going to the flat over the shrink. Healthcare, food access, transit, education, it's all consolidating.
