Online articles often suggest a plumbing inspection every 1~2 years. However, when I ask around, nobody does that so often.

So what is your situation?

I have been a homeowner for 30 years, never heard of such a thing.

Do you mean inspecting the main sewer line (from the house to the street)? Semi routine inspections are not uncommon in old (100+) year old homes with clay sewer lines that have not yet been replaced.

No, but it is easy enough to check for corrosion, leaks tracking along drains, hvac condensate drains working properly, flushing a water heater, etc. I briefly do that visually any time I'm around those things and check hvac at each season change or as needed.

That sounds expensive. I would imagine plumbers would take advantage of that.

I pay 150-175/year for annual tankless boiler maintenance. The plumber usually notices if anything is wrong.
