"The victim told officers that he was held at gunpoint by a male suspect, later identified as Janvier. Janvier demanded the victim’s postal keys, which grant access to every mail dispenser in Nashua, officials said."

The criminal was pursuing mail theft, most likely to make money conducting check washing, a very lucrative illegal activity.

Carriers in my district not on dedicated collection routes turned in the blue box keys 20 years ago. Thieves learned how to defeat those boxes by other means long ago. The spike in armed robberies of carriers has been to access apartments and the mail at your homes
