I dont know what you expect to accomplish there in the off-season. All the jobs, tourists, and action take place between April and September. In September it fades into a ghost town -- it's real beautiful when it has that breeze, starts cooling down, and empties out though.

I heard they switch the electricity off in November and back on in March, but issue a winter supply of candles to the 20 or so year-round residents so you should be okay. Take a good book.

I just found your post today. I have been musing to do the same thing... winter in MV for solitude and beauty. I was wondering if you ever went?

I briefly browsed the responses your post received. My God, people are idiots. It was none of anyone’s business why you wanted to winter there.
