Hi,

We are looking to buy a house on Homestead Rd in Holden. It is off Shrewsbury St, sort of by the Middle School and Chaffin Pond area.

We are from out of town (Maryland), so have had little time to really get a good feel for the neighborhood. It seems like a nice, quiet neighborhood, maybe a little dated.

If anybody has any thoughts, please feel free to share. Thanks so much, and we look forward to moving to Massachusetts.

I am familiar with it. I live about 2 miles down the road just over the Worcester line. We have some friends that live on Marlen st & they like the neighborhood. One good aspect to living in this section of Holden is that you avoid the traffic problems coming through Holden Center on 122A at rush hour with commuters trying to get to I-190.

Default traffic

I've lived in Holden over 20 years. I used to know someone who lived on Homestead. My impressions are that the neighborhood is in need of updating, yes, but newer and younger families will refresh it. Getting into or off of Homestead from Shrewsbury street(the only way) can be dicey. There's alot of traffic streaming into Main street from Shrewsbury street and during commuter times it can be tough. Nice location for access to downtown, either to walk or drive. Holden street is very nearby and is a good place to walk, nice and flat.
