I'm looking for a nice apartment complex in Newton and for some reason I'm coming up empty. The only places that pop up are Avalon communities and I don't want to spend $2,000/month for a 1 bedroom apartment. I figured Newton would be filled with decent place for under $,1500/month for a 1 bedroom apartment. Does anyone know of any complexes in the area? I've been looking at Watertown as well and I'm thinking maybe that is a better bet.

Default Who says US has a real estate problem?

I think when you say nice, you want a full service condo.

Newton median condo sales price is over $440K. When you add $500 condo fee, another $500 in real estate taxes... it is hard to find something comparable for only $1500. When you can only use $500 to cover the mortgage. Put a few Babson students in there and the rent is cheap when split amongst them.

With that said, I'm sure you can find a 1 bedroom condo for $1500. They're the older and hence... not as nice. I think there were a few right next door to Avalon at Chestnut hill. I suggest you better look fast before students come back...

You may also want to check out cleveland circle or Washington Sq...

There are plenty of apartments that are reasonably priced in Newton, but they are predominently in multi-family houses rather than complexes, which tend to be luxury as they have been added more recently to the little remaining land in Newton. Some of the apartments in two- and three-family houses are quite nice.

You might consider moving into the apartment complex across Courtyard Marriot in Auburndale (This is actually close to Newton, Waltham and Watertown).

A 2 bed- 2 bath apartment is 1675. I am sure the 1beds would be cheaper.

You might consider calling up Chatham Developements (they are in newton) as they own the place to find out more
hope this helps!
